A new kind of Store

Atlanta, GA February 7, 2004--The store will be a first of its kind urban neighborhood store to be opened by Attic Loft, and will be followed by stores opening throughout the country. The Atlantic Station store, however, will represent a huge emergence for Attic Loft, marking its first foray into a modern urban environment and brik and mortar store, and will compliment its' e-commerce business.

“As we took a look at the success of our online presence, we saw tremendous demand in building our stores,” said Zak Stroud, Chief Executive Officer for Attic Loft. “We decided we could better serve our guests by designing a special store that is not only convenient, but that also carries products that are unique to the Atlantic Station shopper as well as our entire base.

The Attic Loft store concept focuses on offering a wide variety of products and services that offer guests a multituide of design options. For example, rather than have a contemporary look and feel to thier merchandise, Attic Loft will offer traditional, southwestern and others styles to choose from.

Attic Loft managers surveyed home decor shoppers in all both urban, rural and suburban areas, to learn what services would most benefit consumers. For example, many consumers hire interior designers to complete larger-scale jobs, or cherry pick items from discount retailers. With that in mind, Attic Loft will have trained Design consultants assist guests with their decor choices. The new store also will offer a convenient courier service for large items and a cafe and design library to encourage guests to find the items they're looking for.

The Atlantic Station Attic Loft, is approximately 35,000 square feet with first and second floors. Also included is a multi-level parking garage adjacent to the building. More than 55 people will be employed at the new store.

Founded in 1978, The Attic Loft is the world’s largest home decor specialty retailer and the second largest retailer in the United States, with fiscal 2002 sales of $58.2 billion. The company employs over 280,000 associates and has more than 1,560 stores in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, seven Canadian provinces, and Mexico.
